I remember the first time I heard Motley Crue on the local classic rock station. They were huge when I was in late elementary school, and it made me feel very old.
I’m afraid that Nirvana just isn’t old enough to have been dubbed “classic” quite yet, even if they are playing them on that station. They need to give them another ten years at least.
Chas, I’m there with you on Nirvana not being classic. I think part of it is the whole Kurt Cobain being dead thing!
I feel old but for much different reasons. High school kids are looking younger and younger, my waist is getting bigger and bigger, and my hair is getting thinner and thinner. Luckily my waste isn’t too big and my hair… well… I am pretty much screwed on the hair thing.
Yeah, I never was a big Nirvana fan, then he shoots himself and we’re supposed to buy more of his CD’s. I hate that people I went to school with cried like he was a martyr or something. In short, it sucks that the music we listened to in high school is now considered classics. My parents still call it things like crap and noise, but some of it I can still enjoy…just not sure about it being classic yet.
J, I can agree with the high school stuff. Well and the waist, but I’m trying to take care of that one.
P, I wasn’t a big fan of Nirvana either. I kind of like the music now, just because it reminds me of high school. And I agree that it’s not classic. Not sure at what point it turns classic, but not 10 years after it was made!
