One class almost complete

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before or not, but I am taking an internet class. It’s a very easy class. So much so that if I get my rear in gear I should finish it up this weekend. If not I will have it finished by spring break. As you can tell it’s not that big of a thorn in my side, but it will still be nice to get this class out of the way. It’s been way to easy for me to forget about it when I get home. About the last thing that I want to do is spend more time on the computer, but I’ve forced myself to do it.

The other classes are going okay. I’m still not enjoying my IM 343 (Strategy and Information Management), but I suppose in the long run it will make me a better person. It’s not so much the class it’s the teacher. For example, last week he started reading from these handouts and none of us had a clue what he was reading from. Turns out he was reading from the next chapters handouts. We kindly told him that we had not printed those out (most of us at least) and he said “oh yeah I made some changes to the schedule. I guess you didn’t get that..” I wanted to say “Nope we didn’t get that. Nor will we get it through osmosis, so you’d better post it up.” I don’t think he’s posted it up yet.

We are finally getting into our project in the project management class. It’s going to be interesting to say the least. Again in the end it will make me a better person, but to get there I am going to get frustrated. Most of the people in my class haven’t done PHP or MySQL or for that matter have designed a web page. And here I am someone who has done this for 8 years. I will admit I’m not a guru by any means, but in all honestly I could get this done by myself in the time we’ve been allotted. But since this is a project team assignment I am going to step aside when needed and kind of act as project manager (most people are kind of looking to me for that…so that’s what I’ll do) when needed.

I hate group projects. I hated them so much in college I e-mailed one of my teachers and said “The people I’m on a team with are so incompetant can I just hand in a project by myself?” She didn’t like that idea. Sounds like your teacher is a little scatter brained. He’s one of the worst to deal with from a bookstore perspective. You’ll ask what he’s using and he’ll say he’ll e-mail it to you. Then you get an e-mail that says “I’m using the same book I used last semester and should probably have the same number of students. Does that work?” Nevermind that you’re new and you have no idea what book he’s using now. Nine times out of 10 they won’t sign the e-mail either so all you know is that some putz is using the same book he used last semester.

Yeah I’m the same way…don’t care for them. Either someone is pushy or no one wants to do anything. But I’m going to try and make this one work.
