I love the smell of ant killer in the morning! Hoorah!

So since the weather has turned somewhat nice we have had an ant problem in the house. I’m not just talking 1 or 2 ants here and there. I’m talking swarms of them. It first started in the bathroom and then we found them in the kitchen. At that point it became our full duty to remove them from this planet. I wasn’t that worried about them until yesterday morning. I got up and was getting something to drink and they were everywhere on the counter. So out came the ant spray and a little cackle in my throat and I went to work. Yesterday the wife went shopping and brought home like 12 ant traps that we have planted around the house. This morning I’ve seen one very slow moving ant, so I’m hopefully that the traps are working.

JarheadFriday night we watched Jarhead. I was really looking forward to this movie, but when I was done I was some what disappointed. Not sure why, but I was. I enjoyed the book much better (Swafford is from Iowa if I’m not mistaken). I will say that it doesn’t paint a pretty picture on war. From the one sniper that I’ve been around what they portray in the movie is pretty typical and worse I’m sure. This sniper was kind enough to show me a video that he had from the Somolia conflict in 1996. Very eye opening to what really goes on in war. I’ll give Jarhead a 6 out of 10.

Who can tell me what movie the title came from? The last part (Hoorah) is frorm Jarhead, but the first part is what I’m looking for. The actual quote is: “I love the smell of napalm in the morning.”

I’m not sure I understand the question…are you asking what movie that quote comes from or are you saying they got the title “Jarhead” from a movie? I know the quote comes from Apocolypse Now (not my kind of movie)…and I guess the term “jarhead” has just been around as long as the Marines have been…my brother is a “jarhead” actually for a little while longer at least.

Jarhead is a nickname for marines. I thought he talked about that in the movie? I thought it was pretty good. I’ve got a friend that was a marine and he said that movie was pretty accurate.

Our ants haven’t made it in to the house yet, that we’ve found. We were outside installing a new storm door this weekend and we noticed that the new flower beds we made this fall are covered in fire ants. My brother-in-law walked through them barefoot because he didn’t believe me and got eaten up. I doused it with some ant killer so hopefully they’ll vacate by this weekend so we can accomplish the rest of our weekend projects in the flower bed this weekend.

When we have bad ant problems we buy a bottle (maybe 2) of ant poison from Wal-Mart that is suppose to attract the ants. They eat it and then bring it back to their little underground ant villages. It looks like little bottles of hand sanitizer. We put it outside in dots and lines around the areas were we thing the ants are getting in. This way the ants don’t come inside because all the food they need is outside. You will see a little ant celebration outside for a day or two eating this stuff up. Then in a few days you won’t see any more ants. I believe the poison works on all sweet eating ants.

Yeah I know what a Jarhead was. I was actually looking for the quote of: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. I think Chas hit it with Apocolypse Now, but I actually thought it was in Full Metal Jacket.

Ants are almost gone. We sprayed around the house and that seems to have helped out a lot.

The quote in question is made by Robert Duvall in Apocalypse Now. “I love the smell of napalm in the morning, it smells like…victory”.

As for ants, go to the pro’s. Also had a problem with them three years ago. Had a pest control guy come, hunt them down, (not with napalm), and have yet to see them back. worth the investment.

He speaks! :) Thanks for the clarification on the quote DSF! I’ll go to the pro’s as a last resort. I don’t want to end up with a company like True Green again…calling me every Wednesday on my way home…Right now they are GONE from the kitchen…bathroom not so much, but getting closer.
