10 item express lane…

means 10 items right? Apparently not. I was reminded of this incident when I was over at Jen’s blog reading about her weekend with Patrick and their run in at Wal-Mart.

So our vaccum ate one to many cat hairs this weekend or something like that and it started smoking. After trying to add a new belt and still having it smoke we decided that it was time to go and get a new one. Off to Wal-Mart we went. We found the vaccum isle and were looking at vaccum’s. We found the exact same vaccum that we had before for about 1/3rd of the price (isn’t that the way it always is?). So we got it. There were no boxes of this vaccum on the low shelves so I searched the top shelf and of course it says “Ask for help with items on this shelf”. I looked around and there was no one there that was going to be able to help me. In addition when I have asked an associate at Wal-Mart for help they give me a stupid look. Perhaps I’ve asked the wrong person, but I’ve never been impressed (I know all of the associates are not like this because my father in law works there part time) with their help. So I picked up the model vaccum and it wasn’t that heavy. I figured it couldn’t have weighed anymore than the 95lbs I’d done on the shoulder press earlier in the week so I grabbed it and put it into the shopping cart.

Next we needed to find a checkout aisle that was open and had someone that spoke english and was halfway competent. Usually on a Saturday they have about 5 of their 30+ isles open and they put the slowest people on them. We found one with an older lady in the 10 items or less. So we jump in line and I look at the lady ahead of us. There was no way that she had 10 items. Then I saw that this was the only isle where you could buy your tobacco so I figured that perhaps the lady ahead of us was getting some smokes. Nope. Just wanted to get through the checkout lines. And what was even worse was the checkout lady never said anything about it. I know if it was Patrick he would have asked if she could read!

Naa…not me. I probably would have made some snide comments about the express lane and how stupid people shouldn’t be allowed to shop there. One day I’ll have to tell you all the snide remarks I made to the roid users at my first gym…it was bad.

Raul - You need to tell that story…I’m sure it’s pretty good. I’m guessing that you were probably stronger than them and you weren’t using anything? :)

No, they were stronger than I was by far. They were your typical overside roid users and I probably could have hidden behind them. It was the outfits they used to wear that were what drew comment. They wore stuff in and out of the gym that probably wouldn’t have fit around my arms, stuff that Hooters girls would look at and say “I don’t know..that’s a little small.” We ridiculed them pretty regularly and they hated us…it did draw a few laughs from everyone else though.

I’v never been to a place that’s had a bunch of bodybuilders/roid users. But that does sound funny…well maybe gross! No the gym I most frequently go to is very motivating. Full of old men who can hardly walk or if they can they are huffing and puffing to get to the locker room.
