Scouting for fishing spots
In my last post I mentioned that I had fishing on the brain. Well the wife finally decided that it would be okay that if her dad and I went out and scouted a couple of areas to fish. This after I spent 4 hours in the mall shopping and another 3 or 4 at a local art fair…shopping. I didn’t bring this up, but had I needed to, I would have.
I will admit that this will not be like fishing in Montana where you can drive 10 minutes away and you are fishing. Instead you’ve got at least an hour drive and then you can fish, but only on about a mile of one stream. So it’s not quite as good, but I think it will satisfy my hunger for fishing.
It was really interesting looking for these fishing spots because you’d be driving along in the middle of corn fields that have not been planted or have not bloomed. They are very bland looking. And then you drop into a valley and it’s all green and lush. Very lush right now with all the rain we have received.
And with the attached pictures, I now have to refrain from saying that Iowa is ugly. There are pretty parts to it. You just have to get out and find them. They aren’t going to be out your front window like in Montana, but they are. I guess you could say they are hidden gems.
And to top it all off, I think I’ll be heading out to fish this weekend. That is if I get the gutters cleaned out and get some more grass planted. I found out during our 5 days of rain that the gutters a really full of crap and need to be cleaned out. I found out because the water was coming out the sides of the gutter rather than the spout. Yeah good time unclogging that one. I guess this is one of the joys of owning a house.
And now I’m off to plot how to kill the neighbors dog..I’m still thinking a BB gun from the roof or a silenced 22 of some sort.
