Down with the money hungry corporations!
Yesterday I was sitting at work when my cell phone rang. It wasn’t a number that I recognized, but I picked it up.
Lady on phone: Is mr. or mrs. There?
Me: I’m here
Lady: This is so and so from Dish Network. We have a great special on Starz right now that would only cost you $10.99. Is it alright if we get you signed up? It will be turned on by the time you get home?
Me: No I don’t want Starz.
Lady: I’m sorry about that. Is there anything else we can do for you?
Me: Actually there is. I would really like you guys to call me up since I’ve been a loyal customer of yours for the past 2.5 years and tell me that I could get something for free. I get these fliers almost every week on how if I was a new customer (or switched from cable) I’d get this fantastic deal. Yet as a loyal customer whose paid their bill on time and has never had a service call, I get told I have to pay through the nose when I want my satellite to change stations a little quicker than 10 seconds. And no I don’t want to have a time that I have to remain a customer. Just do it for your loyal customers.
Lady: I know what you mean but there’s nothing I can do.
CLICK.
Am I the only one that has noticed this type of thing happening? If a company, such as say All State, came up with something like this I’d be a loyal customer forever. In fact I think I might change our insurance over to All State. I haven’t had a wreck, nor my wife, in a few years. Given that we would be paying $100 less a year for car insurance through these guys. Now that’s the way it should be shouldn’t it? That’s about as much as I can explain right now, but you get the idea.
On another note if you guys see that a college professor was assaulted in Moline Illinois it was probably me. I mentioned in the previous post that I have a class this weekend. Friday night and all day Saturday. I ordered the book a few weeks ago and I’ve had them sitting here. Just today, 48 hours before the class starts I get a note from the professor that says you are required to read the book and you’ll also be presenting Chapter 6. My first thought was what the hell planet are you on? I have another class that is of the same type next weekend and I received the work for that class early last week. 2 plus weeks in advance. Second thought was to drop the class. Third thought is that I have to take the fucking class or I’ll be taking one lousy class next spring semester.
So break time is over. I’m off to skim the bulk of this book and to read Chapter 6.
Saw the DaVinci Code last night. Good movie. Go and see it. They did the book justice in my opinion.
