New or used…that is the question
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it, but we are looking to get a new car in the not so distant future. One of the people that I work with just bought a brand new 2007 Toyota Camry which made me want to buy a new car, but forever and a day I’ve said I would never buy a new car. Just for the mere fact that if you drive it off of the parking lot you are out something like $500-$1000. On the one hand I think it would be good for us to buy a brand new car because I’m such an idiot when it comes to the mechanics of cars. But on the other hand it’s the money. I’ll probably end up with a used car/truck/SUV.
If money wasn’t an option I’d probably go with a Porsche 911 with a big spoiler on the rear of it. Why? Because I saw it in Bad Boys the movie and it was so cool. And then what really topped it off was when I was on a road trip and I was cruising around 70mph and a 911 pulled up behind me and dropped it into a lower gear and passed me like I wasn’t even moving. And the other 3 cars as well! It was sweet.
If we add common sense (money no object) I’d probably go with a Toyota Tacoma. I just like the look of them and they are pretty well put together from what I’ve read on them. The downside for our purchase right now is that they cost an arm and a leg. But perhaps by some fluke I’ll find one that will work.
Most likely I think we will end up with a Honda CRV, Toyota Rav4 or a Jeep Liberty. All good vehicles that I’d drive. Hell I’ll drive just about anything newer than my rusting 1990 Honda Accord. It’s served me well and I could probably drive it for another couple of years, but it’s time to find another car.
Now to find a loan that works. I’ll probably be shopping for a loan at a local place. The car loan we got at Wells Fargo for the wife’s car was a bit expensive. So we’ll see what we can find locally.
