My former Co-Worker

I know your tired of hearing me say I’m busy, but that’s the fact. I’ve got these damn summer classes that I’m trying to crank out so that’s where my focus has been lately. I think this blog, until I finish summer classes, will become more of a photo blog than anything. Still reading the blogs that I visit, so I’ll still be around. Just not posting as much. Any how onto something I’ve wanted to share for awhile. Well at least part of it. There’s a whole bunch of it that I should share, but this is the most recent in this saga.

Last summer a co-worker of mine decided that it was time to move onto greener pastures. It sounded like a good job. Flex time, an open door policy that was encouraged and various other things that I think should be in a dream job. I kept in touch with him for awhile and then I lost touch with him, but his roommate was working for us, so I’d hear information about former co-worker occasionally.

Somewhere along the line former co-worker decided that it was more important to have a social life than put food on the table and was staying out until all hours of the morning trying to pick up women (or ???). This is bad for a couple of reasons. The obvious reason is that the new company he was working for didn’t mean flex time to be “come into work if you feel like it or whenever you want to”. They meant it more as “If you have something to do in the morning come in later, but get your work done.” Secondly he’s got 2 kids (23 years old…) and is supporting the mother of his kids (and other debts that are just stupid). So he does need the money. But social life was more important.

So I check my gmail account tonight and he messages me through the chat option. I ask him how it’s going and he proceeds to tell me that he quit his new job. I knew that he’d been warned at his job about his performance, but I thought he’d shape up. So I ask him why he quit. He tells me that they were treating him badly. I just stared at the screen for a second. I wanted to say “What planet are you living on. What job do you think is going to allow you to come into work whenever the hell you want to? On top of that you don’t get your work done.” I didn’t say it however because honestly it would do no good. I say that it would do no good because this guy is the king of stupid ass decisions. If there is a stupid ass decision to be made he will have made it and will continue to make it. Although I do have to say he has apparently figured out how to put a condom on because he doesn’t have any more kids…at least that we know of. He proceeds to tell me that he’s got a contract with someone that will pay him more than what he was making at the new job, but without benefits (not good because the mom takes the kids to the doctor ALL THE TIME…and he has to pay for it. Or that’s what I hear). After he tells me about all the interviews that he’s got lined up and the other contract job he’s got I shake my head and think that he’ll probably be out of work in the not so distant future because he continues to think it’s a problem with the work place and not him. I really hope this doesn’t become a reality, but it’s very likely that it will.

Dumbass!

I’m with you all the way on this one man. I worked with tons of restaurant folks that always thought it was everyone else but them. Amazingly they’re still getting fired from different restaurants for the same thing.

I can understand the restuarant stuff, but not in a computer programming area. If he keeps it up he’ll be out of work.
