Had my review today
So I had my review at work today. I still have a job!! It was kind of odd that I would get a review so soon after switching to a new position. But I’m not complaining. It means I’ll get a teeny weeny little bit of extra money. Probably just enough to bump me up to another tax bracket and Uncle Sam will take it away from me. Or it won’t even cover inflation (anyone know what that number was last year by the way?) Doesn’t it seem like that’s the way it is for those in the middle income bracket? If you’re in the lower income bracket you can usually do pretty damn good because the government will try and get you back on your feet (which is a good thing). If your high income, well I don’t need to explain that one. But if you’re just plain old middle class then you are just downright screwed in a lot of cases. My favorite example of this is paying for college. Lower income tends to have a high amount of their schooling paid for by the government or through scholarships. Middle income families work hard and you might get out of school debt free, but it’s also going to take you 6 years to get it done. High income you’re good to go. Want to go to MIT? Have daddy write you a check and be on your way.
I don’t know why I’m complaining. I’ve had it pretty good and I wouldn’t change a damn thing. It’s just one of those things that sit’s in the back of my mind. I’m sure I can be proven wrong but I think most of the people that read this blog would agree with it.
I got another announcement for my 10 year reunion today. Sounds like it’s going to be just like high school. All the popular kids there…drinking and needing a taxi to take them home. The only difference is that it will be legal this time and their spouses and children might be along to see what they were like in high school (I was a nobody in high school in case you want to know…knew of a lot of people, but no one knew of me…which is fine). I went onto myspace.com a month ago or so and found some of the people that graduated from my class. A few of them I knew and a few of them I didn’t. It was kind of interesting to see what some of them were up to. The sad thing, for the state of Montana, is that almost every single one of them was living outside of the state. I think most of them would love to live in Montana, but they know the reality of it.
Tomorrow’s the last day before the vacation. I’ve done a test run on my carry on luggage. It doesn’t seem too heavy wearing it around the house (must be the weight lifting!), but if I have to carry it for very long it might be different.
