Day 2 - Tour of the City
It shouldn’t surprise anyone that we got up a little later than normal on Friday, our second day in the city. No hangovers, that I was aware of so that was a good thing. We were supposed to be at my cousins rental house by 11AM and we had decided that we were not going to hike there. So we got cable car passes.
We waited on the corner for the cable car to arrive and my brother and I jumped right on. But my parents and my wife didn’t make it. So my brother and I jumped off at the top of the hill to wait for them. Turns out that other cable car’s were full and they didn’t bother to stop, so parents and wife had to walk up the hill. My wife gave me an ear full when she got to the top of the hill.
Eventually we did get picked up by our trolley car at the cable car museum where we toured it. Very interesting place. I’d recommend going there if you want to know how the cable cars operate. From there we began driving around town. In short the wife and I got a good idea of where things were. We hit Union Square (we knew where that was already!), Chinatown, Fishermans Wharf, Planetariam (I believe that’s what it was called…it was pretty awesome) and of course Golden Gate Bridge. After the bridge we had to head home because of the wedding rehersal.
On the way home my mom, brother and my wife were able to catch the cable car and it took us right where we needed to be. The wife and I decided to take a nap while my mom and my brother went shopping. After resting up we went out shopping for a bit as well. Eventually my brother, the wife and I ended up at The Cheesecake Factory for dinner. The wife and I had eaten at a Cheesecake Factory in Las Vegas so it wasn’t anything new for us. But we both love cheesecake so why not. Dinner was good but the service sucked. Basically any place that we ate in San Fran had horrible service. I’m not sure what the deal was, but it sucked. If I had to take a guess it was the fact that there are so many tourists around and it’s so busy that people don’t get served properly (so just a warning to those expecting great service in San Fran!).
After dinner we walked back up hill to the hotel to turn in for the night. Saturday was the wedding.
