Day 3 – Wedding Day

WindmillThe wedding was upon us. In the morning many of us were wondering if it was going to be warm enough to have the wedding. It was very cool that morning. The temperature in San Francisco does not get much over 70, from what I’ve read. That’s in the summer and winter. It’s actually quite nice. Now if there weren’t so many people (there’s actually less than 1 million people there).

GroomAt 2PM we walked down to the motel where my cousin and his fiancé lent the out of towners the use of their limo. It was a giant Excursion. It was our first time in a limo. Much like most people’s first time in a limo I was excited about it, but after that it was just another big car. After awhile it was a bit uncomfortable.

Tulip GardenWe were dropped off at the Tulip Garden in Golden Gate Park. Was is at the end of the park and right next to the ocean. It’s kind of in bowl with a large wind mill over looking it (tulip…Netherlands…). The weather did change a bit, warmer, and with it being in the bowl we were protected by the wind. The wedding was very short which most guys like. But it was well done as well. Since we were close family and there weren’t many people there we got front row seats.

The BrideAfter the wedding we greeted the new husband and wife and then jumped into the limo to get to the reception area. The reception had and open bar for beer so I tried a Corona at my brothers suggestion. Yuck. One of my cousins boyfriends rode along with us and we started chatting to pass the time. I could tell he was a bit nervous being around family, but we made him feel right at home. When he found out that I didn’t like beer he suggested a drink that I took to immediately. Jameson’s Irish Whiskey and Ginger Ale (lime optional). Yeah I had a few of them…as did the wife. All of the drinks defanetly helped me get out on the dance floor. As I stated in another post, I can’t dance to save my life. The most interesting dance was where they asked all the married couples to come onto the floor. Slowly they started removing couples by the number of years they had been married. We of course didn’t last very long, but longer than one couple. The last couple on the dance floor was my parents (the brides parents had actually been married longer by they weren’t dancing…).

Husband and Wife!At around 10 or so we decided to call it a night and taxi cab it back to the motel. Another one of our interesting taxi cab drivers. 50 miles per hour from stoplight to stoplight. And then slam on the breaks and cuss out whoever gets in front of you!

That cake looks impressive like the ones you see on Food Network. The scenery looks nice out there, but somehow I don’t think I can drive in that kind of traffic.

Patrick - We didn’t drive in the traffic…the taxi cab drivers did…most of the locals are skinny (lots of walking or riding bikes) or they have a motorcycle. I’ve never seen a town that has had so many motorcycles/mopeds.
