Days 4, 5 and 6

Photo 5The last few days of our trip weren’t that exciting, so I’m going to combine them into one post so that I can get onto posting other stuff (yes I’ve actually got other stuff to post…if you can believe that!). I also want to get a photo gallery up. Hopefully I’ll get it up this weekend.

Photo 2Any how on day 4 my brother had to make his way back to Boise, so we saw him off and then we took another crazy taxi cab trip to the wharf. It was Sunday and it was wall to wall people. I should mention that our taxi cab driver really wanted to get us to where we wanted. So much in fact that he drove down the lane for the trolley cars. Not sure what he would have done if we would have met a trolley, but luckily he didn’t. We were able to see Alcatraz from here. We also discovered that there was no way we were going to get out there. For those that want to go…make reservations in advance. We ended our day on the wharf in Ghiardelli square, which is the chocolate place. The wife had to get some chocolates and we got a couple of sundaes as well. From there we made our way back to the motel. I should add that when you want a taxi, one is not to be found. So we walked a good distance before we found a taxi!

Photo 3On day 5 the wife, my mom and I went back down to the wharf where it was much more sane (read: less people). Of course it was pretty early in the morning. We did a tour of the aquarium which was okay and then walked all of Pier 39 which is FULL of little shops to stop in.

Photo 4On day 6 my parents left and the wife and I were left to ourselves. We were starting to get run down so we didn’t do much on this day. We did find where the theatre was and went and saw Superman (an okay movie) and then we went and had dinner at The Cheesecake Factory again. After an hour waiting in The Factory I was about ready to go postal. I’m a small town boy at heart. I’m sure it would have been different it we weren’t doing a bunch of touristy things, but we did and I was ready to go home.

Photo 1As and after thought I should mention that we did spend a lot of time in Chinatown. It was a couple of blocks away from our hotel. There are some magnificient deals to be found in Chinatown. One thing to know if you go…you can talk people down. I bought the wife some nice fresh water pearls for $40. Probably could have talked them down to $30. Also bought some swords that were originally $70, that we talked them down to $60 (I’ll have a post on the swords!).

Swords? Sweet! You should for sure go see Pirates of the Caribbean. I’ll have to post pictures of the Dallas aquarium we saw for free.

Yup…I got swords now…in addition to a shotgun and a pistol…I need more weapons! :) We will see pirates tomorrow night I think. Going to try and see it at the digital theatre, but we will see.
