3 Good Movies (according to me!)
We’ve been in major movie watching mode the past couple of days. At least it feels that way.
First a couple from NetFlix.
Freedomland – This is based on a book by Richard Price (wrote Clockers if that means anything). It stars Snakes on a Plane Samuel Jackson, Julianne Moore and Edie Falco. The story is about how Moore accuses a black man of taking her son one night while she’s driving through the ghetto. It’s not a very happy movie, but I think it does a good job of portraying what can happen in towns like this one. Perhaps I’m totally wrong, but I thought it was well done. Make sure you have a “happy†movie to watch afterwards!
Goal! The Dream Begins – This was the perfect movie to have after Freedomland. It’s basically about an illegal immigrant that comes to the US and plays soccer. Along the way a former scout from the UK sees him play and he thinks he can play professional soccer. Good movie. There’s supposed to be other movies, but they haven’t been released yet.
And from the theatre.
The Guardian – We saw this previewed at Pirates 2 and thought it looked good so we had been waiting for it. It’s not that hard to figure out what’s going to happen, but overall I thought they did a good job of telling the story. Costner and Ashton Kutcher do a pretty good job in my opinion. It’s worth a matinee, but I’m not sure it’s worth the full price.
