Untitled story (pt 2)

This is a continuation of a story that I posted on 9/28/06. It’s raw and uneditted, so bear with me. I tend to write anything and everything that comes to mind while writing. Some of it probably doesn’t make any sense to anyone but myself, so I apologize.

No sooner had I slipped under the covers and the phone rang again. I waited for it to quit ringing, but it didn’t. If there was one thing Teresa was it was persistent.

“Just hear me out,” She pleaded when I picked up the phone.

“Okay,” I said as I sat down on a chair.

For the next few minutes she proceeded to tell me how about a month ago Don had started to act a little weird. She asked him about it, but he would never tell her anything. Soon after, he started getting weird phone calls to both his cell phone and to the house. Don yet again told her to ignore it. Finally one night while they were at dinner he said enough was enough and he was going to do something about it.

“He got up and left the table and that was the last time that I saw him,” Teresa said.

“And you called the police?” I asked Teresa.

“Yes. They looked into it, but weren’t able to find anything so they’ve dropped it.”

“Well if they can’t find him or any clues, I’m not sure that I will be able to either.”

“Could you just make a trip out here and take a look for a few days. I’ll pay for everything?” She pleaded.

“I’ll have to check and see what I have going on at work,” I told her as I finished pouring a cup of coffee. “I’ll call you later and let you know.”

“Thanks Jack.”

“Instead of coffee I decided the bottle of Jim Beam looked better for this kind of day. Teresa is always up to something but getting out of town for a few days didn’t seem like such a bad idea. Or so I thought at the time.”

Just a thought. I still dig the story.

I like it. Might have to work it in some how!
