Online Trading?

Was wondering if anyone that reads this does any online trading? Been thinking about it for awhile and have recently just started following Jim Cramer (TheStreet.com, CNBC, various books etc) and I’m thinking about giving it a try in the not so distant future.

I’ve got my own broker and he’s a nice guy, but honestly my portfolio is down a gazillion dollars right now and it’s been that way for more than 2 years. I’m tired of this and times a wasting.

I’m not about to just jump in with some money and start doing this, but I’ve setup a free “fantasy” stock portfolio following some of Cramers picks to see how they turn out. It should be very interesting.

I know nothing about the stock market. Jason did have an Ameritrade account for a year or so after we got married, but he really didn’t know what he was doing either. I think we broke even.

Thanks for stopping by Chas. I’ve been pretty old fashioned about investing, but right now I’m not sure it’s paying off.

My online investments are the same types as they were a few years ago when they were offline - only it’s faster and cheaper now. There’s no real difference in the products themselves, just in how quickly you can get and act on the information.

    Start out simple, and build.

I have a Sharebuilder account. You can invest in the typical way or you can do it more like a savings account. You can specify the stock you are interested in and send in X amount of dollars each month. You end up with however much stock that money will buy at the time.
