Day 1: Travel
We got up at an early 4:45am yesterday to catch our flight. I was quite amazed to find the airport parking lot full so we had to park in BFE which was bad for a couple of reasons. Reason number one is that it was cold. We had a 2.5 block walk to get to the terminal and by the time we got there my hands were just about frost bitten. I am not kidding about that. The other reason is that the airport doesn’t bother to label their rows once they are out so far so I had to give my best estimation of where the car was at to the people who were picking it up. I didn’t get a call from them so hopefully they found it alright.
Once we were in the airport terminal we were “selectively” selected to be searched. I got patted down which is really no big deal. My wife had her bag searched by what had to be the slowest man on earth. I am usually pretty patient with this stuff but he was getting on my nerves for whatever reason. Word of warning to those people traveling. Don’t pack your shaving creme, hairspray and other large containers of liquids in your carry on. I was flabbergasted when the lady next to us had all of these things in her bag. Hello…have you not read the paper in say the last 2 years?
The flights were great and we actually arrived into Kalispell ahead of time. I think that’s a first (arriving ahead of time).
My dad drove me around the valley a little bit to see what has changed…a lot has changed. It’s almost like it’s a different city. They are building a new high school here that is supposed to open this year. The way they have it divided would have made it so my brother and I would have gone to the new high school. Something I found kind of interesting.
No pictures to post up yet. Even though I did take out my dads cannon (500mm) and take a picture or two of some elk, but even with the lens they were to far away. Hopefully today I’ll get to take some pictures.
