Day 3 & 4: Friends and Glacier Park

Lake McDonaldDay 3 saw us leave my parents house and head over to my in-laws place. First we had to stop at my wifes sister’s house and watch the kids for awhile. I haven’t been around them a whole lot, but over all they are pretty well behaved. The little boy could use a bit more discipline from what I saw, but who am I to judge with only seeing them for about 2 hours. I will see more of them today when we go for my nieces birthday party. Hopefully I’ll be able to stand a bunch of 10 year old kids running around. I’m sure my wife will have no problem with it seeing as she’s a teacher!

After visiting her sisters place we went out to my wifes best friends house in Columbia Falls. Her friends husband builds houses. The last time we visited they were just finishing up a house and getting ready to put it on the market. That house sold and they have a new one. This house is HUGE. It has 5 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Oh and it has 5 acres of land as well. It’s an incredible house. But they are going to sell it again this year and build another one (they do this every 2 years…for tax reasons). I asked my wife when she thought her friend would get tired of moving. Best room in the whole place was the “kill” room if you will. It’s basically the fireplace room and has all of the husbands elk, deer and bear mounts in there. This guy has taken a lot of animals over the years. So after I was able to walk straight we headed home (I put a serious dent into their rum!).

Day 4 saw us head up to Glacier Park. I’ve been there in the winter before and it’s actually quite pretty…and very quiet which is nice considering that in the summer it’s a complete madhouse. On the way up to Lake McDonald Lodge we saw no one. On the way out we saw a couple of vehicles, but for the most part it was just us. One thing that annoyed me was that at Apgar, which is at the head of Lake McDonald (from West Glacier), is that they are putting in a huge parking lot. I guess it’s the change and the fact that I think they are turning something beautiful into something that more people can get to. It’s not Yellowstone, but it will be shortly I have a feeling and I don’t want it that way!

The rest of Day 4 saw us at my parents house eating (again!) and watching a movie. Today we go back to my in-laws house and stay there for tonight. Tomorrow I’ll be at my parents house and my wife is at her folks house (since the 2 families live in the same place we try and split up out time between each house as much as possible so all is fair!) and then on Monday we fly back into Davenport!

The Wife and I!
I think this is the first photo I have posted of my wife on this blog. So here she is. She doesn’t like her photo being taken, but yesterday she did let us take some photos. This is one of them that her mom took of us while at Lake McDonald. We had a photo shoot at my parents house and we got some pretty funny pictures. I’ll have to get copies of them and post some of them up!

I think that is the first picture you’ve posted of your wife. It’s funny because as I started reading this I thought “Has he ever posted a picture of his wife? Maybe she doesn’t want her picture on the blog.” That’s a really good picture of you guys. Are you growing a beard? Have a safe flight home man.

Not growing a beard. Just hadn’t shaved in a few days.

Flight heads out tomorrow, but today is all about the super bowl!
