A start to the weekend.
This week was a bear and I had resolved to go home and down at least one shot of whiskey and try and drown it away. But the weather had changed in the later part of the day and I decided it would be best if I went out and tried to take some photos.
I drove down to Credit Island listening to my audio book and parked on the side of the road. The fog was on the water and I could barely make out the bridge in the distance. I stepped out of the car and gathered my gear and found a point to shoot from.
As I shot my pictures a blue heron flew overhead. It was so quiet, despite being only 200 yards from a busy highway, that I could hear the heron’s wings as he flew overhead. I took more pictures. A beaver spotted me as I stood along the shore taking pictures. He was cautious as he approached me. I made a sudden movement accidentally, and he slapped the water and went under. I smiled as I watched the ripples pulse towards me in the water. A few geese flew over as I took more pictures of the scenery. I paused for a moment listening to…nothing. As I climbed back up the embankment a raccoon was skittering across the road and he quickly made his way towards the river when he saw me.
I put my gear back into the car and drove back home, feeling refreshed and forgetting about all the crap that the week had brought. Another week is only a few short hours away and I know more will come, but I can’t let that get in my way of living life.
