Weekend Travels
We made it back into town around 1pm today which was nice considering the last time we did this trip we didn’t get back into town until around 4 or 5pm.
Yesterday morning we took off earlier than we had planned so we made it into town before our motel room was ready, but they were very accommodating and had a room when we arrived. We lounged around for a bit and then headed off to the wedding.
The wedding was Catholic as I said earlier and when I asked my wife if she thought it was going to be long she commented that in the invitation is said that it would be a classic Roman Catholic wedding, which to me meant that it was going to be a LONG wedding. To top this off, the air conditioning didn’t seem to be working and EVERYONE was trying to fan themselves with their announcements (or whatever the heck their called). But as it turned out it didn’t take that long. At least I didn’t think it did.
After the wedding we went back to the motel and did more waiting as the wedding party was getting their pictures done. Dinner was supposed to be at 6:30 which was about 2.5 hours after the wedding. And most people traveled to the wedding. Dinner was however served promptly at 6:30. We ended up sitting with my boss/CEO of the company that I worked with. We only talked about anything work related once, and that was with his wife. So that was a good thing!! At 8 the dancing was supposed to start…it was delayed slightly, but it did get started pretty close to the time they said it was. We danced a few dances…it wasn’t anything to write about honestly. Small dance floor, kids all over the place…so I think we only did the Rumba if I’m not mistaken. Towards the end of the night the whiskey was kicking in and I got shanghaied into going onto the dance floor by the bride and trying to dance to hip hop. I like hip hop, but I was told afterwards that I couldn’t dance to it. Which is just fine with me. Because whenever I see people dance to hip hop it looks like their trying to have sex with their clothes on (maybe not that extreme of a picture, but that’s what I think).
This morning we hit the road at 9 and blasted our way back home. We stopped in a little town called Dickeyville, Wisconsin which is where I took this picture below. I think this is the only attraction for this little town. If you click on the picture it will give you a better idea of the detail on these buildings around the church.
