Summer time memories

These photos probably won’t mean much to anyone other than myself and the few (1?) family member that reads this blog.

I’m not sure what year it all started in, but my cousins and their family from the “eastern” part of the state started going to Lake Placid in the summer. It was usually the end of July or start of August when we’d go. With all of our family and the friends that ended up coming along I’m sure we took over half of the campground some years. The trip was all about water skiing and playing 31 at night time. And of course staying cool in the lake. I’m not sure when the last time was that I went, but my folks were down there last week and my dad got some pictures that brought back a lot of memories. Enjoy!

Lake Placid

Early morning skiing was what it was all about…no wave’s or wave runners to worry about!

Josh @ Placid

I’d like to say that I got this good at water skiing, but I didn’t. This is my cousin Josh who I think spent most of his summers water skiing and got pretty good.

Angie @ Placid

And my other cousin Angie. Again better than I ever was. I had a hard time with one ski for some reason (not enough practice I suspect…). The one time I did get it…it was on Placid and it was SWEET!

Orange sunsets due to the fires.

More Orange Sunsets

More orange sunsets!

Zoning out!

Nights were either spent around the fire, or playing 31. In this case it looks like zoning out around the campfire (and probably some alcohol somewhere!)!

These are just some of the photos that my dad snapped…and even though these are good…there are a lot more, and better in my opinion on his site

Those are actually damn good pictures. I used to water ski and had dreams of going pro…then I realized I’d have to quit everything else I liked doing and just water ski. I was in sixth grade and that didn’t sound like much fun. Every time I hear Lake Placid, I think about the movie with the giant croc that I liked. I was hoping to see you feeding a two ton man eating croc in the picture but I guess we can’t have everything.

I didn’t know that you water skiied. I think my cousin above (Josh) thought about going pro as well, but I’m not 100% sure. I know he thought about going to a world renown camp in our area.

No feeding of the 2 ton alligator, but that show rocks. I think I’ll put it on netflix again!
