Cat Paws

The paws of our cat Tonks.  I’ve only been taking pictures of cats lately, but tomorrow I’m going to try and get out and take some flower pictures.  So I’ll be browsing some known flower picture takers tomorrow morning before I head out (Lujza - what aperture do you use for your flower photos to keep the background blurry and the flower in focus)?

Ha! “Technical” questions….I just wing it Chris! Honestly….I’ve had the best luck with my Sigma 70 - 300 lens….as far as “aperture” goes….no idea. I don’t even know how to “manipulate” my photos to a great degree. It’s the luck of the draw for me! But hey….thanks for asking me for advice!

Lujza - Thanks. I guess I’ll wing it as well this morning. Hopefully there’s something decent to take pictures of.

Wow…another winner and a unique way of looking at ‘things’. I like this shot! Keep up the good work, bud. As for aperture on macros of flowers…start at 2.8 and maybe go out to 5.6. Starting at 2.8 is a good place to start, but it really depends on what lens and how far away you are shooting. I can send you pics of each setting if you’d like.

Dad - Thanks. I thought things turned out pretty good despite the fact that I was just goofing around with the camera.

2.8 on my 24-70is pretty shallow so I took things to 3.5 and beyond very slightly (5.6). But honestly there weren’t many flowers to take pictures of. The heat has killed them all off.
