Live and learn

So there we were on the dance floor getting ready for our first Tango of the night.  Music has started, we’re in position and I lead us out.  My wife informs me that we are off of the beat.  I can’t tell, but I take her word and I stop. There’s people piling up behind us. We start again and once again I’m informed that I’m off beat.  My wife tries to count it for me, but at this point I’m frustrated and I storm off the dance floor and tell her that I can’t hear the timing.  Not my best performance.

My biggest frustration with dancing has to do more with myself and not being able to keep up with the music or not able to hear the time to it.  I’m sure my wife wanted to call me a horses ass, but we stuck through it for a few more dances and for the most part my timing was on. What’s the worst part of it?  I made us both look bad in front of all of these people that see us dance.  So for any guys (or gals I suppose) that are ballroom dancing, just remember to be patient and allow some instruction.  I suspect the people behind us would have understood.

Also ladies…if your going to wear the cute sundress…make sure that you put weights in the bottom of it so your not showing everyone what your wearing underneath!

That would be a little frustrating but….at least you’re out there dancing. We don’t…both Tony and I are total 2 x 4’s out on the floor. We make up for it behind the wheel!

Lujza – With a little practice I’m sure that Tony and you could dance. I was the habitual don’t dance at weddings guy. Frustrated the hell out of my wife, but one day I decided that i’d had enough. We’ve loved it. And despite Friday’s mishap, things are getting better with dancing. It’s only taken 6 months, but yeah things are getting better.

I teach Tango for a living and patience/practice is the key. At least you continued and that’s what important. I hope you stuck to it
