Day 14 & 15: Friendly

Since we have been back west (all of 1 week and 1 day!) we have noticed how friendly people are out here.  By this I mean when your grocery shopping and you need to get around people and you say “excuse me” they say “oh sorry” or something like that.  I could go on with other examples, but I think you get the idea.  In the midwest it just wasn’t like that for most people (not all of them of course…for those of you in the midwest!).  I’m not sure why, but that was the case and it was something that both my wife and I noticed.

Today was my first day at the new job.  It was good to get back to doing something.  I was going a bit stir crazy.  Lots to learn and it’s odd to be the low man on the totem pole.

Yeah, people are rude around here (the quad cities). You hold a door open for someone and they walk right through without a thank you or even a smile. Not much for manners around here.

Mike - There are a few that are friendly (most of them I call friends), but you are correct…most are not polite.
