Lujza - Thanks for the comments. They help out a lot...or at least give me a bit of hope that our cat's won't murder a small dog while we are away at work!

Well it's funny....when we brought Kayce home, she was much smaller than the cat (about 1/2 his size). And the cat was always a funny duddy, "I'm the king of this house" kind of feline. The cat pretty much ignored the dog, the dog would chase the cat. Eventually it stopped being a chase game and is now more of a "let's play" game. We were really worried in the beginning that the cat might claw out the pups eyes....and when you pay as much as we did for this mutt....well it was a worry. He (the cat) did bring his claws out a couple of times but....it's amazing what a spray bottle filled with plain old water will do. Oh and...the cat is 3 1/2 years old, so he's not young...but he's not ancient either.

Lujza - Do you think it would be that way if the dog was smaller? They will probably adapt, but I'm still a bit concerned about it.

Chris - we were concerned that our cat (who was all the "king" of the household before) would be the same way with the dog. There were a few tense moments, but now....they end up sleeping together!!

Lujza - I am sure they will appreciate the prayers. Thanks.

As for a dog....I have to convince the wife that we need to get something that weighs more than our cats. So that's 20+ pounds....yeah we have big cats. I'm just afraid one of our cats (Frodo) will not take to kindly to a dog and will beat the tar out of anything smaller than him. She wants a Yorkie which weighs all of 6 pounds at the most.

That's just awful for your friend....prayers are being said.

As far as a dog goes...you gotta get an Entlebucher....I will definitely get another one in the future! And they're not huge!
