Bud-weis-er!

Friday night we went to Fort Collins for dinner at a sushi place. My wife and I passed on the sushi, but did have some rolls that were pretty good. I’m not sure if I’ll be a sushi person or not because I got a bit queezy off of the rolls. On our way up there we pass a Budweiser plant and the people we were with told us they do tours. So on Saturday we headed back to Fort Collins and went and got a tour of the Budweiser plant.

beechwoodI’ve never been in a plant like this. Lets just say that everything is big, which in turn means there’s a lot of people drinking beer (I am not one of them!). The plant was shut down for the weekend so there wasn’t a whole lot going on but we got the whole tour and it was very interesting. If your in the area of one of their 12 regional breweries I highly recommend going for a tour. And for those liking beer, you get 2 free samples at the end! The photo I have posted is of the pots that they use for the beechwood aging (Budweiser is the last place to use this process).  There are 146 of these pots in this room.  The guy told us how much beer it held, but I don’t remember the amount.  The pots are probably 10 feet in height and 75 feet long. That should give you some idea of the size of these things.  Everything was like that…BIG!

I knew I’d get a response out of you! Pretty cool place. Did you guys tour the one in St. Louis?

I don’t even have to try it to know I wouldn’t be a fan of sushi.

Chas - I agree with you on that. I looked at the stuff and they asked me if I wanted to try it…but I passed. My wife however does want to try it.

Sushi is awesome. It tastes just like the fish you’d normally eat, except cold and on top of rice. It’s good stuff. I’ve had everything from Octopus (pretty good actually) to blue fin tuna and Sushi is just one of those things I can’t get enough of.
